This week, God has led me to some excellent things that I want to share and commend to you. This is not a review or a sales pitch for the book; however, it is a commendation of the idea to inspire Christians to put God’s word into action.
In this post I want to highlight the story of Rena Peterson, a widow who feeds the homeless in Denver. (Click her name to view the link.) When she lost her beloved husband a few years ago, she asked God to show her what to do with the rest of her life. This is a story that is featured in the Take Action Bible published by Thomas Nelson.
Be sure to scroll down to the bottom of the story and view the video. The video highlights a completely different story about Leon McGlothlin, a shoe shiner who took action after he was convicted of the desperate need for clean water in so many parts of the world. He now works in partnership with World Vision to fulfill that need.
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Philippians 4:8
Many of the stories included in the Take Action Bible were shared first on the website created by Thomas Nelson, www.seegodswordinaction.com.
